Development and Climate Change: Managing Risks, Realizing Opportunities, 13 July, 2007 Room XXIII, Palais des Nations

Climate change is affecting the prospects of developing countries everywhere. The processes of development, in turn, will likely have a major influence on the capacity of these countries to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to achieve their development goals.

This side event, conducted during the July 2007 meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council in Geneva, is being jointly sponsored by the WMO, South Centre, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia in Geneva, and Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development to help explore the linkages between development and climate change, with a focus on the risks and opportunities facing developing countries, and the integrated strategies and policies available to developing countries to address them.
