The Innovation and Access to Knowledge Programme (IAKP) of the South Centre is organising the Third International Symposium on "Achieving Balance in the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights: Global Perspectives", on Friday, 23 October 2009, in Room XXVI of the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The purpose of the Symposium is to bring together different stakeholders from developing country governments, intergovernmental organizations, academia and civil society to discuss the policy challenges that developing countries face on IP enforcement. The theme of the current symposium will focus on three major elements: (i) IP enforcement and the public interest; (ii) Safeguards for a balanced IP enforcement; (iii) Responding to the global IP enforcement agenda. The symposium is open to all who are interested in this issue or who wish to share their expertise and experience.
