The South Centre has been financed mainly by voluntary contributions from countries of the South. The aim, however, is to secure adequate financing through a Capital Fund, the interest from which would meet the Centre’s core costs. The Board has set a target of US$30 million for the Capital Fund, which is being raised primarily in the South. Close to one-fourth of the original target has been raised so far and the Centre has intensified its efforts in this regard. The Members States also contribute to the operating costs of the Centre based on a voluntary scale of contributions adopted by the Council of Representatives at their 6th meeting on 14 July, 2005 in Geneva. The Centre also finances its programmes and activities with the support of funds from donors other than Member States. These donors consist of governments and specialized agencies of non-Member States, foundations, intergovernmental organizations and others. Contributions to the South Centre Capital Fund or its Operating Expenses are welcome from governments, inter-governmental institutions, charities, individuals, as well as public and private corporate enterprises.
