Declación del Exmo. Embajador Pisanu Chanvitan en nombre Grupo de los 77 y China durante el Comité Preparatorio de la XIII UNCTAD |

El Grupo de los 77 y China, representado por el Embajador Pisanu Chanvitan de Tailandia, emitió una declaración ante el Comité Preparatorio del 13° período de sesiones de la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Comercio y Desarrollo (UNCTAD XIII) en el que se destaca el punto muerto en el que se encuentran las negociaciones debido a las posiciones de los países desarrollados que, fundamentalmente, trataron de debilitar a la UNCTAD. La declaración hace hincapié en la voluntad y la flexibilidad del Grupo de los 77 y China de lograr la aprobación de un documento final de consenso y señala que el Grupo buscaba reafirmar el Acuerdo de Accra de la UNCTAD XII y luego considerarlo como punto de partida y que el documento final de consenso sea, como mínimo, el texto condensado producido por el Presidente del Comité Preparatorio el 4 de abril de 2012.

La declaración ha sido firmada por antiguos altos funcionarios de la UNCTAD entre ellos el ex Secretario General, Rubens Ricupero, ex Secretarios Generales Adjuntos y ex Directores, en respuesta a la presión que ejercen los principales países desarrollados sobre la UNCTAD y el Grupo de los 77 y China durante los preparativos para el 13° período de sesiones de la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Comercio y Desarrollo (UNCTAD XIII). La declaración fue pronunciada en una conferencia de prensa celebrada el 15 de abril de 2012 y presentada al Embajador Mothae Anthony Maruping (Lesotho), Presidente de la Junta de Comercio y Desarrollo y Presidente del Comité Preparatorio de la XIII UNCTAD.
